Stor-Oslo Lokaltrafikk, Norway chooses software from Trapeze for its demand response service
Software will be used for service planning in the Akershus area
12 March 2004 (Aarhus, DK) – Stor-Oslo Lokaltrafikk (SL) has chosen Trapeze software for planning and managing demand responsive transport in the Akershus municipality. The organisation has overall responsibility for planning, operating and coordinating public and demand responsive transport in the Akerhus area including Oslo.
"We chose the Trapeze System because it is the system which most completely meets the very extensive demands in our requirements specification, at a competitive price,” states Hellik Hoff, head of the department for school and special transport for SL.
The purchase of the software system coincides with a reorganisation of the booking centres. Four booking centres will be combined into one central office which will handle planning and dispatch for the entire Akershus area. ”In SL, our focus is very much on servicing our clients, and with Trapeze, our employees will have a tool with which they can offer a better and faster service. In addition to the improved service, we expect to streamline our daily operations and better deploy the vehicles using the automatic planning and dispatch function,” Mr. Hoff continues.
The demand responsive service includes transport for students with special education needs, disabled persons and patients. In 2003, SL planned 1.1 million journeys. The Trapeze system will be used to plan around 600,000 demand responsive journeys in the Akershus area per year. SL has contracts with operators for 72 mini buses in the Akershus area and purchases additional transport from taxi operators as needed. In the long-term, the Trapeze system will be extended to handle demand responsive transport in Oslo as well.
SL expects that the possibility of reverse invoicing will give a financial profit through better control. ”Today, the operators invoice SL for the transport. In the future, this will be replaced with reverse invoicing towards operators and payment authorities. Invoicing will then be handled directly from the system, where transport time and kilometres used by the specific client/payment authority are registered,” Mr. Hoff says.
