Transport for London Awards Software Contract to Trapeze
System Will Schedule Dial-a-Ride Services Across UK Capital
February 27, 2004 (Manchester, UK) – Transport for London (TfL) has awarded Trapeze Software UK a contract to provide a software system to support its demand responsive transport services in the capital.
The London Dial a Ride service, operated by TfL, will use the Trapeze system to book and schedule passenger journeys and manage fleet and staff allocation. It is anticipated that this new system will help TfL improve its booking and scheduling services, increase service capacity, and explore options for using a variety of vehicles to deliver services.
London Dial a Ride provides a shared ride, door-to-door transport service for people with permanent or long-term disabilities or health problems who cannot use conventional public transport. The service can be used for various purposes including shopping and leisure activities. The service currently assists more than 89,000 registered clients and books more than 1.3 million passenger journeys per year.
