York Region Selects Trapeze Software
To Centralize Scheduling for its Regional Transit Services
November 12, 2002 (Toronto, ON) – Trapeze Software announced today that York Region, one of six municipal jurisdictions in the Greater Toronto Area, has selected Trapeze FX routing and scheduling software to support service planning and scheduling for its public transit services.
In 2001, York Region Transit (YRT) amalgamated the conventional transit services of five municipalities. As a result of this merger, the Region required a computerized system that would integrate scheduling data from four contracted service providers. The service planning group will use FX to create and modify routes, timetables, vehicle blocks and runcuts for the Region and its service contractors.
“We are looking forward to centralizing and standardizing our scheduling function with the help of Trapeze, and gaining efficiencies with our service delivery partners,” says Irene McNeil, Manager of Service Planning at YRT.
“York Region Transit is significantly improving the quality of public transit for its regional community,” says Rick Bacchus, President of Trapeze Software. “We look forward to helping them meet their objectives for expanded and more efficient services.”
York Region Transit provides public and specialized transit services for nine municipalities covering 1,756 square kilometres (678 square miles). The agency currently operates 150 vehicles over 60 fixed routes.
