Trapeze Supports UK Standard for Real Time Position Updates

Trapeze Group today announced the successful launch of a RTIG Digital Air Interface Protocol (DAIP) module for its real time passenger information solution.  This RTIG standard is designed to allow on-bus equipment to provide position updates in a standardised form. This removes the need for specialist hardware on the vehicle, with the electronic ticket machine able to provide the updates instead.

This approach has a number of advantages for local authorities and bus operators: it reduces costs by removing the need for specialist hardware and also reduces the issues associated with moving buses between different real time systems as no hardware swap out is required.

Trapeze has tested its solution against Parkeon’s Wayfarer200 ETM platform, by utilising the integral GPRS and GPS functionality and also with its own next generation on-vehicle hardware solution (the Intelligent Transport Module).
