Surrey County Council to Help Improve Transport Across Region Using New System from Trapeze Group

MANCHESTER, ENGLAND | August 02 2008

MANCHESTER, ENGLAND, 2nd June 2008 – Trapeze Group today announced that Surrey County Council (SCC) has selected their comprehensive coordinated demand responsive transport system to help improve the way SCC provides transport across the region.

As part of the Council’s Best Value initiative, the Trapeze system was selected by SCC to provide the latest scheduling tools for fast, automatic assignment of client trip requirements to the most appropriate and cost effective transport provider available. In addition, financial management capabilities enable SCC to continually monitor costs and control budgets as well as interfacing directly with their SAP finance system for payment to suppliers.

David Munro, Surrey County Council’s Executive Member for Transport stated that, “Traditionally we have had a wide array of passenger transport provision in Surrey but it has not been well integrated. We selected the Trapeze system to help us coordinate efforts in the region and to help maximize the use of our resources, reduce costs, and drive greater efficiencies. Streamlining the way we do things adds value to the organisation, keeps costs down and helps us to continue to provide Best Value services to the residents of Surrey.”

The remotely hosted system offers Web-enabled access, providing facilities for SCC’s Transport Coordination Centre (TCC) users to manage clients, track vehicles, store information about the facilities available in the vehicle, record driver and escort training and assign the most appropriate vehicle to any ad-hoc job that the TCC procures. Service provision covers transport for Special Education Need pupils, Social Care clients and other demand response services offered through local transport partners.
